Day of Days...

Brent's 39th birthday isn't one I think we'll ever forget.

Brent's 39th birthday was yesterday.

The day he carried our son back onto US soil. The day that ended his Macgyver-esque adventure in Haiti. The day that 3/4 of my family was finally on the same continent and it was MY continent.

I don't think there are words to describe how proud I am of Brent and what he's done... the example he's set for our son.

Brent's large in stature and larger in heart. For some reason, adults kinda shy away from him and every child instantly knows he's a human jungle gym.

He was meant to be a dad.

And today, finally, he's sleeping in America with his son. And they're dirty and exhausted, but they can fix those things.

I leave in a couple hours to catch a plane to Miami.

I can't wait to see my boys.

I love you, Brent. Thank you for being one of my heros.

Brent,

I couldn't agree with Lori more. Our society sometimes has a strange concept of what the word hero means. You are someone who has demonstrated what the word really means. I am so happy for you and hope you can be reunited with your daughter soon.

You are an inspiration to us all.

I say we need to have a party, strictly BYOB (in this economy) we need to celebrate, and also need to pray for Jess's dad to soften his heart. But mostly we need to celebrate!

I hope it is ok that we post here. We have been closely following your story from Babes In Hairland. We are so happy fot your family. We know it isn't complete yet but as my 5 year old daughter says, it will be fine because Jess needs her mommy and daddy so she will be with you soon! She gave me hope and we will keep praying for you!

Ok, so remember the other day when we were chatting and I said I couldn't stop crying when they found Nathan and learned Jessica was safe. Well, I'm at it again, but these are definetly super, humongous, happy, joyful tears for you. Next time I let 'em flow it will be because Jessica is at home with you too! Hugs...and start looking in the mailbox!

Hug that sweet little boy extra hard and long for me! I think of you and him everytime I hug either of my boys... and I hug them extra in you guys' honor... remembering just how fortunate I am that I can do that.

I cry tears just thinking of Jessica... I pray very hard that it is GOD's will that her birth father open his heart and realize that this is the best place for her... and that if he makes the decision to give her to you and Brent, he will always still be a part of her life... that you and your husband will always be grateful to him, to her birth mother, and consider them a special part of your family.

One thing I hadn't asked yet... I don't know if anyone has... you said Jessica had a sister... biological... what's going on with her? And would you be able to adopt her, too, was she already placed, or is her mother keeping her?

God is great. God is good. What a neat story Nathan will have to tell his kids when he grows up.
