Back in my own bed and resting. The incision is about 5-6" long so my belly's pretty tender. I walk with the beautiful posture of the letter "C" ... or stork with intestinal problems... or something like that.
Brent's taking good care of me. Thank you for all the good wishes and kind thoughts.
We've also been notified that we won't be going to Haiti in April. They're trying to reschedule a trip before September. It's hard to miss this time with them, particularly while Nathan is at such a fun stage, but laws are what they are and we have to comply. As Brent said, "A Haitian hotel was bad enough... I don't need to see a Haitian Jail!"

Wait - couldn't get you in for April, and now it's pushed out to possibly September?! Oh how much patience you guys have - or at least are acquiring through this whole process.
I know you've been asked this a dozen times, and I've read your outline but I'm still in the dark. When do you get to bring them home? Best case scenario?
the reason you're still in the dark is because there is no structure - or even average. The Haitian government is having some elections in April and that could throw the whole country into chaos and derail everything for weeks. A hurricane hit last year and everything was at a standstill for weeks.
I have a good friend that has been waiting for 22 months to bring her two children home from Haiti.
I just keep saying, "We'll have them in about a year." because it makes Mommy feel better to think of it in a timeline.
Recovering from surgery and you still have a sense of humor! Wishing for a quick recovery.
I am glad that you are home. I was afraid that they were going to keep you and Brent because they have grown to like you so much.
What law is this that would make you wait to go back to see the kids?
Let us all think positive and plan on you picking your kids up before that September trip. Hey, it can happen. We may be the sorry saps that have been waiting 22 months, but a couple from our Orphanage just beat the 9 month mark and brought their kids home this week. Positive thoughts:)
For those of you that don't know Melissa, she's also adopting 2 kids. The orphanage her children are in has rooms for the visiting parents. So they stay right there at the O and the kids routine isn't disrupted.
Our O doesn't have facilities like that. Since they aren't legally our kids yet, the only way we can visit them (because we have to take them out of the O to spend time with them) is to have the agency with us. They're kind of babysitting us, I guess. :)
Melissa, you've given me hope (and MIchelle as well, I'm sure). It's almost too much to hope that we'll get them home this year. Please, please, please, Heavenly Father!!!!
Well, if it helps, another couple that did not even send off their paperwork until May just went down to bring home their daughter as well. Maybe it is just us that has the problems:) That would be great for you, not so much for us :) It really seems to be picking up for a lot of people.
